In order to be a successful speed reader you need to have consistent eye movement. In order to stop your eyes moving from the actual words you are reading, move your hand across the page. If you move your hand under the line you are reading, your eyes will follow.

As your hand moves along the line at a steady rate, your eyes will follow suit and that will help increase your reading speed.
